As of late I’ve found that I spend about 38% of my time in a swimsuit. I’m a sunbaby. Blame it on my Texas roots or my beach loving mom but whether it is traveling to an off the radar beach, going out to the Hamptons for a much needed city escape or simply checking into one of NYC’s hotels to soak up the sun in their highly coveted rooftop pool – you can bet that I’m happiest in a swimsuit by the water.
I’ve teamed up with Bikini.com as one of their ambassadors to keep you in the know on what to wear for any outdoor, sun filled occasion. First up? Tackling a question that many of you have DM’d me … how to pull off the high-waisted swimsuit trend.
No matter what suit I’m putting on it’s all about confidence. If you don’t feel great in the suit then toss it, don’t buy it. I’m obsessed with anything high-waisted. I wear high-waisted underwear regularly, I love where it hits and once high-waisted suits came out I jumped on that train before most.
Find a suit that isn’t too tight around the legs because of the nature of this suit it has a more retro cut than any of your standard suits these days. The last thing you want is for it to be too tight on the butt!
Get yourself naked. No not really but I swear by Spruce & Bond’s laser hair removal service. They take phenomenal care of their clients, ensuring that even the most sensitive of skin is cared properly for in time for any bikini wearing! I go to the one in Flatiron in NYC and am thrilled with my girl Jessica. You always want to make sure that your bikini line is in good standing – trust me!
Go with a silhouette that will balance you out. I don’t have much of a chest but I’ve got a bit of “junk in the trunk” if you will on the bottom half. I was crushing on this ADRIANA DEGREAS suit because the top had structure to it and the print played down my hips. Also make sure that you’re wearing the suit and the suit isn’t wearing you, steer clear of prints or styles that overtake you. Keep in mind that too much top and a HW bottom will just look like a one piece!
Take these tips for what you will, they’re what have worked for me but I am always looking to hear new ones!
