Daytrips out of the city, especially post NYFW, not only revitalize you but they bring a sense of calmness to what is typically a crazed time of year. I headed out to Storm King Art Center for the first time and now understand why everyone has been raving about it all of these years. Aside from being an easy trip from Penn Station (about an hour and change), the 500+ acre grounds at Storm King are simply put gorgeous. There are permanent and long term loan pieces in the collection such as David Smith’s work that were purchased when the park first opened that are complimented by rotating exhibits that change annually. This year Lynda Benglis’ Water Sources was on exhibit
Things to keep in mind:
Leave time to enjoy the collections and grounds, don’t go here in a rush! I was there for about 4 hours and didn’t see everything so keep that in mind!
If you are training up to Storm King take cash, the cab is only $7 each way but they don’t take cards!
