The Fringe Effect

Any piece of clothing that has as much movement and personality as this skirt deserves a spot in the “good” closet. Keeping with this spring’s heavy ‘70s resurgence in every form possible it was inevitable that I was going to give fringe a go. I’ve never been a flower child or a hippie or any of that, I’ve always been myself and play with silhouettes and trends that work for me, surprisingly though I’ve board the 70s boho babe train and won’t lie, I love it. This bold, exaggerated Tamara Mellon skirt sways like it owns the world or maybe a dance floor so much so that I couldn’t bear to pair it with something simple, I had to play into the boldness of the skirt and create a juxtaposition.  Enter this Ernest Sewn boyfriend camo button down, my very lady-like Dior heels {similar here} and this DIY chunky statement necklace that I did a few years back and can’t part with. Don’t you just love how it sways? Reason enough to pick up a piece immediately.

I’ve compiled a few ways to pull off the look in a modern, you way. So take the plunge and give it a try

My motto: Go all the way to don’t go at all.

Step away. I repeat step away from that boring LBD. Give a full fringe dress a go to really make a fearless entrance. Snap up this Herve Leger stunner or this Tamara Mellon LBD with some serious “I own this” personality.

Feeling adventurous?

Enter the creative swoon worthy pieces that need to be paired with low key pieces so that they can really showoff. Hello DKNY fringe top or these Steve Madden gladiator sandals.

Give your uniform a pop.

Take your jeans and tee uniform up a notch with the added dimension and subtle accents of a fringe jacket, I’m currently obsessing over this one from Nasty Gal and this one from ASOS, even more of a reason to snag one? They’re both under $200!

Dip your toes into it.

Not sure if you are ready to take the plunge with larger statement pieces? Go with a chic fringed bucket bag like this Milly one or this neutral stunner from Free People.
