I grew up in Dallas where we rarely saw snow, our cars were defrosted and heated up before we drove them and winter fashion consisted of one coat and beanies/gloves and warm socks were only necessary for the annual family ski trip. Since moving to New York winter has taken on a different meaning especially in terms of my personal style, I have gotten quite creative in my layering strategy. I have quickly grown to endure the brutal winds, snow and bone chilling cold temperatures for this great city but one thing is for sure, I’ve also grown to appreciate now more than ever the warm winters down in Texas. I miss being able to walk around sans tights and snow boats, only needing a heavy coat at night or as recently experienced, being able to sit outside and enjoy lunch on the patio. I miss a good stroll while doing a bit of shopping outdoors or a nice long run along the lake. Needless to say, as snowflakes are falling and temps are dropping, I’m missing my Texas winters right about now.
