One night At: The Embassy Row Hotel

For New Yorker’s, DC is a quick shot south. A relatively simple 4.5 hour drive and that’s with a break. I had not been to D.C. in over four years so was excited to head back down to see some friends and clients (have to love knocking out both work and play in one trip!)

With only one night in D.C. I wanted to make sure I was staying somewhere a) conveniently located to everything I was doing b) that was a boutique hotel and c) had a gym (kind of only half kidding!)

Embassy Hotel, Washington DC, Luxury HotelUpon my arrival at The Embassy Row Hotel, located in the charming Dupont Circle neighborhood (so convenient to everything!) I was greeted by the warmest staff, they were quick to take my tiny bags up to my room, offer me a beverage at the cute coffee shop and gave me a run-down of what the property had to offer. Happy hour, an outdoor lounge, wifi, snacks, ping pong, a gym and a brand-new menu at the bar.  What drew me to The Embassy Row Hotel was that not only was it recently named one of Conde Nast Traveler’s Best Hotels in the World but their goal is to immerse their guests in the local lifestyle – which I LOVE! For instance, they partner with Silent Dance Society for Silent Disco Saturdays in Station Kitchen & Cocktails (they recently had a Valentine’s Day Silent Disco, how fun is that?!?), and So Other’s Might Eat, a local non-profit who aims to end homelessness in D.C. Pretty cool right?

After a long day of meetings, seeing friends and running around Georgetown I was down for the count. Sure I was dying to try one of the million new restaurants in D.C. that everyone was raving about but there is also something to be said for staying in at a hotel, getting in a run at the gym, hitting happy hour, enjoying room service and never leaving the property.

And that I did.

The Room:

My room was chic as all chic. There is stylish décor in the hotel without a doubt but the room was different level with big nail heads in the turquoise leather wall and a very mod yellow chair situated just right to give you a perfect view of the sunset.

(Wearing Wear Lively’s Geo bralette, the comfiest, chicest bralette there ever was!)

The bathroom was stocked with NEST products, which I just love and while the shower/tub combo is nothing out of this world it without a doubt served its purpose and that purpose my friends was for me to RELAX.

The Gym:

If you are going to a gym in a hotel while traveling you are likely looking for a few things. Those things being that it is clean, it has a treadmill/bike/elliptical situation and maybe an area for free weights. This little gym checked all those boxes while still welcoming me with a big bright GYM sign. I love a good lit up situation!

The Restaurant + Bar:

The Embassy Row as mentioned is just tres chic. The bar is no different. It took a lot of restraint for me not to try to steal the gold + turquoise bar stools! But in all honesty, the Station Kitchen & Cocktails was incredible. They have happy hour every day from 5 – 7 PM, a great outdoor terrace area and specials nightly. I happened to be there on the first day when they rolled out the new menu and it was great, I had their wings and naan pizza with a very heavy pour of Tempernillo. Divine doesn’t even touch on it. The waiter and GM were both wonderful, giving me some suggestions on what to order and pair with what. I highly recommend even if you live in the area to head to check out the menu at Station Kitchen. I’d go back just for another order of those wings!

In the morning I grabbed coffee, they server Compass coffee that was created by two local DC veterans and a wide assortment of yummy pastries, breakfast dishes and even juices if you’re looking for a healthy option! Which I always am!

  • If you’re there during the warm summer months, they have an absolutely perfect rooftop!!! I am going to have to go back just to hang out up there!
  • The staff knows the area as well as most of DC very well. Definitely ask for recommendations and they’ll point you in the right way without a doubt!
  • While there is no spa on the property they do offer in room massages, which I have heard are simply fabulous!

I’ll be back again Embassy Row!

Embassy Row did host me for the evening, all opinions and thoughts are my own.

PS how adorable were my wheels for my trip? A special shout out to Mitsubishi for letting me cruise around town in their new Mitsubishi Mirage.
