Is THIS the shoe that could replace my sneakers?

Tevas, Ugly Shoes, Spring Trends

Ugly or on trend? To each their own on this one but I’ll admit I was a bit on the fence in regards to accepting it as something I wouldn’t be ashamed to have in my closet. The fact that my uncle has worn Tevas for the better part of his life wasn’t necessarily a selling point for me. Though when I saw these heading down the runway I won’t lie, I was intrigued. How could something so obscure now be something that so many fellow fashion loving gals were aching to have in their closets? More importantly, dying to wear to everything from brunch dates to music festivals. Normcore is how so many put this trend, NY Magazine actually said that it was a way of “embracing sameness deliberately as a new way of being cool, rather than striving for ‘difference’ or ‘authenticity.'”  Interesting, no?

So, when I received my Tevas one Wednesday after I’d spent the whole day in a pair of beautiful heels that had wreaked havoc on my feet mere hours before, I immediately opened the box and tried them on just like any normal shoe-loving girl would do. I was pleasantly surprised to find how incredibly comfortable they were (dead serious. Comfort to a whole new level.) I mean I am a sneaker loving girl but first and foremost am one who could never bear the thought of nixing heels, but I will openly admit, I’ve now found a place in the closet for these “ugly” shoes. Come summer they just might replace my sneakers.

Not quite sure how to tackle this trend?  Think of it this way, anything you could wear with your slips-ons or chucks, you can wear with Tevas. They’re versatile and that’s what I like about them.

  • Here I paired it with my worn-in-beyond-belief cut-offs, a guy’s shirt, a few long gold necklaces, stacked bracelets and my favorite slouchy cross-body bag.
  • You could also wear them with overalls and a crop top, a flowly maxi dress, a mini and a great varsity jacket (hint, hint that might be coming soon) or with a long lace pencil skirt and tee.

Tell me, have you tried the ugly shoe trend?
