Contrary to popular belief and the cocktails I’ve been shaking up over here on the blog, I have actually been a whiskey-drinking girl for quite sometime. I’ve been branching out if you will to give some love to those other beverages and testing some new and old recipes while I’m at it.
Recently, I gave a standard bar favorite, the Moscow Mule, a slight tweak and whipped up the refreshing Brazilian Mule made with Cachaça (Cachaca 51 to be exact!) as opposed to the traditional vodka base.
- 1.5 oz Cachaça 51
- 0.3 oz of simple syrup
- 2 1/8 of lime
- 2 flakes of ginger
- Ginger beer
- Muddle lime, ginger and simple syrup together
- Add ice, Cachaça 51 and fill it up with ginger beer
- Garnish with ginger and a lime wedge
Side note: In the making of this cocktail, as with many others in the past, my photographer and I decided to take a little sip of the base. Cachaça 51 definitely has a “fuel-like” kick to it at first but has what I’d consider a relatively sweet, citriusy body on the back end.
